Nostalgia - Awareness Raising Sessions with Lotus Group Projects

Ross House tenant Lotus Group Projects recently received a City of Melbourne Grant to host some awareness raising sessions and an event for International Day of Disability in early December 2024.

The first session we are organizing is a Ross House tenant information sharing day with “Nostalgia” as the theme. A catered lunch is included.

Venue: level four Hayden Raysmith Room on Thursday May 23rd 2024.

So far we have organized an early 1900’s gramophone player demonstration and some old recordings from that era to play, old vintage social justice posters managed by COSHG, some vintage clothing and a 1980’s boom box and old blank cassette tapes to record on and play.

There will be a whiteboard discussion on the day asking what nostalgia is and if there is any value in being nostalgic? Does being nostalgic help us to feel happy or sad? Does it turn us into dreamers?

If you:

  • have something “nostalgic” to share at this event (it can be linked to the history of your group),
  • would like table space to provide information about your group,
  • can be part of the Organizing team
